Cut the insulation to fit the cinder block brick or whatever your foundation is made of. When you re using fiberglass batting insulation material run it about 6 inches or so onto the crawl space floor. Jm comforttherm kraft faced and unfaced insulation are all possible products to use for this application. This will limit the moisture that enters your crawlspace through brick or concrete cinderblocks.

This may be done before or after the subfloor has been installed. Make sure they re as tall as your crawl space area and that they re installed tightly against each other use your caulk or foam sealant to seal the seams in between the boards. The sill plate is the first piece of framing lumber and it runs on top of the crawl space wall. Place 1 5 in 3 8 cm moisture proof insulation on the exposed parts of your foundation.

With kraft faced insulation the facing is generally against the subfloor. In a vented crawl space the underfloor should be insulated similar to how it is in ceilings. With construction adhesive or mechanical fasteners secure your foam insulation boards to the inside of your foundation walls. Install an air and vapor barrier over the floor and tape it to the insulation.

The best way to insulate a crawlspace would be to do it from the ground up and consider it just part of the conditioned space as you would with any basement.
