Install Flashing Roof Vent

Kozy kollar products are the only roof vent boot flashing or exhaust hood you install from inside a building and over shingles or similar roofing materials.

Install flashing roof vent.

Use one roofing nail in each corner of the flashing to secure it to the roof. Typically flashing is installed using roofing nails and roofing cement. The flashing for your plumbing vent needs to be large enough to surround the vent so it should be just wider than the vent s diameter. After installation you ll then re lay the shingles you removed to provide a comprehensive water tight solution.

Be sure to clean the outside of the pipe from old caulk that could be in the way of the flashing. Patented and proven both systems form a weathertight seal for vent pipe penetrations and utilizes three independent gasket systems which are designed to work in conjunction with each other to keep out the elements and you off the roof. Center the pipe in the flashing and push the flexible front corners up or down so that the flashing pipe is parallel to the vent pipe. Carefully remove all the shingles from the flashing.

Further your step flashing pieces need to be 10 inches 254 mm long and at least 2 inches 50 mm wider than the exposure of the shingle you re using. Now that the old flashing is gone you can slide the new flashing over the pipe vent and maneuver it under the shingles above the pipe. Slide the new flashing over the vent pipe and under the shingles above the pipe. Remove the old and clean the pipe.

Pull the old flashing up over the vent pipe and scrape any old caulk and debris off the roof.
