How did this project turn out.
How to install bathroom shower wall.
Install the backer board.
If you wait to install the cut pieces use a notched trowel to scrape the thinset from the wall so it doesn t dry before installation.
In our project we set the tile for the wall opposite the shower door first.
This project assumes your old shower surround or bathtub has been removed and that you are renovating your tub or shower alcove with panels that connect together.
Save time by setting several tiles at once.
On the ceiling and floor of the shower we used 2 x 2 tiles and on shower walls 2 x 4 tiles.
Install full piece tiles first and fill in with cut pieces as you go or install them at the end.
You don t need to use a backer board in the entire bathroom just in the wet shower area.
Before you start setting tile take some measurements and see how the tiles will all lay out image 1.
Choose a backer board that s the same thickness as the drywall so you have a seamless transition from one to the other.
